Optimizer Settings Window 

You can open this window by clicking the ’View..’ or Edit button on the  PDF Optimizer preset  list


Name :  Name of the optimizer preset

Description :  Description for the optimizer preset

Optimizer 

Repair And Optimize :  Checks the output PDF for errors, rebuilds all embedded fonts, replaces any missing fonts and repairs potential file errors if possible. The resulting PDF file should not produce any printing error. This option is useful for eliminating file, image mode and image compression errors in output PDF. Many other functions require this option to be checked.

Repair Options.. :  Allows to customize many of the repair options of an optimizer using the  Repair Options  window.

Convert To PDF Standard :  Converts and Conforms to the selected PDF standard if possible.

PDF/A-1b 2005 :  One of the PDF/A standard. Level B (basic) conformance

PDF/A-2b :  One of the PDF/A standard published in 2011. PDF 1.7 conformance

PDF/A-3b :  One of the PDF/A standard published in 2012.

PDF Version: :  Sets the PDF version of the output PDF file for RIP compatibility.

Allow Modifications Within the Layout:  If this option is enabled, Modifications can be done from layout preferences. Otherwise editing the optimizer options can only performed using the PDF Optimizer menu. Any changes in the settings will be applied to the optimizer and all jobs that uses that optimizer will get the changes.

Do Not Show Edit Warning :  If this option is enabled, optimizer will run and show notification while opening this job again.

Run Optimizer Preflight while Opening :  If this option is enabled, optimizer will run and show notification while opening this job again. This option may not available with workflows.

Run Optimizer Preflight After Every Output :  If this option is enabled, optimizer will run and show notification after every output. This option may not available with workflows.

Show Notifications :  This option will show the optimizer notification window after every output.

Auto Create Report PDF :  This option will create a report PDF file in output mode after output.

View Report PDF :  This option will open the report PDF after output.

Colors 

PDF Color Mode: :  Default color mode for the optimizer. This menu will be taken to account for many options in optimizer section.

Convert Colors and Images :  Convert colorspaces of all images and graphic objects of the original PDF files to the selected device color space. Colors will be converted to the selected output intent. Make sure you selected the correct output intent for your printing device.

Options.. :  Allows to customize color profiles for selected color mode using the Color Options window.

Manage Colors :  Allows you to manage printer specific ICC profiles and color conversion controls for the output PDF file.

Settings.. :  Allows to customize color profiles for selected color mode using the  Optimizer Color Profile Setup  window.

Color Grading and Special Effects :  Allows you to apply color grading, brightness, contrast, saturation etc. to the output PDF file. It is also possible to apply special effects like black and white, grayscale, sepia tone etc. Read  Color Grading and Special Effects  section for more details

Color Grading: :  Select color grading and special effects profiles to apply on the output file. Read  Color Grading and Special Effects  section for more details

Additional Color Grading: :  Select color grading and special effects profiles to apply on the output file. Read  Color Grading and Special Effects  section for more details

Unpeg From Optimizer: :  Grading profiles can be chosen freely for every layouts. It will be free from the active optimizer.

Preview.. :  Allows to preview the results for all available grading profiles. You can also enable the profile if it was disabled previously. You may use ‘ Create Grading & Effect Mockups.. ’ menu from ‘File’ menu to output multiple PDF files using different grading profiles you selected.

Color Grading / Effect :  Select the color grading or special effect profiles from the list.

Additional Effect :  Select the additional effect from the list.

Select PDF File.. :  Allows to select a PDF file as preview image instead of the default image.

Organize.. :  Allows to select or deselect available grading profile to make a small list of grading profiles you required.

Add Code Names To Grading Profile Names :  Use this option to show the grading profile short code along with the name.

Do Not Localize Grading Profile Names :  Use this option to disable localization for grading profile names.

Images 

Resize Images :  Allows to change modes and resolutions of specific images as per your specifications.

Color Image Resolution :  Change the resolution of all color images to a selected value.

Resize Only :  Images will resize if the effective resolution is above the selected value. The default and recommended value is 1.5 times of the target image resolution. Separate controls are available for different color modes. 

Compression :  Images will be compressed using the selected option. Separate controls are available for different color modes.

Gray Image Resolution :  Change the resolution of all grayscale images to a selected value.

Monochrome Image Resolution :  Change the resolution of all 1bit images to a selected value.

Recompress All Images :  All monochrome images will be re-compressed using JBIG2 mode even the image is not resized.

JPEG Image Quality :  Quality of the images when using lossy compression like JPEG.

Optimize Only If There Is a Reduction In Size :  If the resized picture in specified format is smaller in size, will store it, otherwise keep the original image as is.

Convert Gray Image to 1 bit Image :  Converts all grayscale images to 1bit images. Useful only if the grayscale images are intended to print as monochrome images.

Use JPEG Instead of JPEG-2000 :  Replaces all slower but smaller JPEG 2000 compressed images to fast and bigger JPEG compression. This may be useful if your RIP not supporting JPEG 2000 Compression.

Include Color Masked Images :  Use this option, if you want to optimize color masked transparent images. some times transparency will affect resizing image with color mask.

Check Images with Multiple Instances :  Images may appear low quality once you reduce image resolution by a fixed size using optimizer. By enabling this option, optimizer will search for images with multiple instances and notify with details.

Caution : Converting images or changing color modes or replacing fonts etc. can cause unexpected results after processing. You should check thoroughly to ensure the changes applied properly.

Options 

Replace Missing Fonts :  Replaces missing fonts in the output PDF file using the given options. You need to enable this option to enable replace fonts in an optimizer. More options for replacing fonts are available in the optimizer section of  Layout Preferences  and  Missing Fonts Setup

Convert Text To Outlines :  Convert all texts except type3 fonts to vector outlines.

Omit Embedded Fonts :  This option will convert text which used local fonts to outlines and keep the text intact that using embedded fonts.

Set Minimum (Hairline) Stroke Width :  Increase all strokes with smaller line width to a given value.

Remove Private Data :  Removes the extra data and images if any from the PDF which may not affect the layout and printing. Private data objects are created by several applications like Photoshop, InDesign etc.

Remove Invisible Paths :  Removes the invisible paths which may not affect the layout and printing.

Flatten Layers :  Flatten the PDF layers if present in the document.

Remove Thumbnails :  Remove the page thumbnails if present in the document. 

Caution : Hairline correction does not always produce the expected result.

Report 

Notify If Found Selected Image Types :  Optimizer will notify you when it found an image with selected specifications.

RGB :  This option will list all RGB mode color images in the layout.

CMYK :  This option will list all CMYK mode color images in the layout.

Grayscale :  This option will list all grayscale images in the layout.

Monochrome :  This option will list all monochrome/1bit black & white images in the layout.

Low Resolution :  Optimizer will notify you when it found an image with a resolution below the value you specified.

Transparent Images :  This option will include any images which contain transparency into the report.

Other Images :  This option will include any images with 16bit images, 32bit images, indexed, monototone, duotone, etc. into the list.

Notify If Found Selected Page Informations :  Optimizer will notify you when it found a page with selected specifications.

Color Pages :  This option will list pages which containing non gray colors on any images or graphic objects.

Gray Pages :  This option will list pages which containing only shades of black colors on any images or graphic objects.

Spot Color Pages :  This option will list pages which containing special colors on any images or graphic objects.

Empty Pages :  This option will list pages which do not contain any printable objects.

Transparent Pages :  This option will list pages which containing transparency on any images or graphic objects.

Notify If Found Selected Font Status :  Optimizer will notify you when it found a font with selected specifications.

Missing Fonts :  This option will list fonts used in the PDF links but not available in your system.

Embedded Fonts :  This option will list fonts which are embedded in the PDF file.

System Fonts :  This option will list fonts which are not embedded but available in your system.

Report Limit :  Set a limit for total number of items to be tested by the optimizer. If your layout have more pages or large number of images, then check this option to limit the number of results per selected items. 

Report options :  Set the options for report printing including report heading, company details, report font, etc. Read  Preflight Report Option  section for details. Go to  Preflight Report  section for more information about setting up preflight notification and reports.
