Create a new layout using a built in template?

Imposition Studio comes with more than 100 predefined templates for standard impositions. Templates are available from  Templates Window . And it is the default window while you open Imposition Studio.

Select & open the Template which almost matches your requirements. Change the page & paper sizes as per your requirement. Open the  PDF Link Settings  window and remove all the previous PDF links. Import your PDF file into The Links window.

  You are Done.

Now you can output the layout using the  Create PDF Output  button into a PDF. Then you can use the resulted PDF output file to print using a PDF viewer like  Acrobat Reader  or  Preview  ( Mac) etc. to a digital printer or drop directly into hot folders of your image setter or CTP work-flow. The resulted file is fully compatible for Digital Printers, Image Setters and CTP machines.

Create a new layout using ‘QuickLayout’?

Select New > QuickLayout from  File Menu  or  Templates Window .

A list of available QuickLayout templates will popup. select the layout you want to use. Then you select the PDF source file to output. Additional PDF files may be imported using ‘ PDF Link Settings ’ window later. Now a window will open with some basic settings including page sizes, marks, color bars etc. which is also available in the  Layout Preferences  window later.

  You are Done.

Now you can output the layout using the  Create PDF Output  button into a PDF. Then you can use the resulted PDF output file to print using a PDF viewer like  Acrobat Reader  or  Preview  ( Mac) etc. to a digital printer or drop directly into hot folders of your image setter or CTP work-flow. The resulted file is fully compatible for Digital Printers, Image Setters and CTP machines.

Create a new layout using ‘New Layout Assistant’?

Select New > Auto Layout from  File Menu  or  Templates Window .
Select the Job Type you want to create and select the number of ups you want to print in a full form. On the option info fields you can view the possible layouts which matches the job type and total pages combinations. Select the layout if it meets your basic requirements. Some options like page turning method can be changed later.

After clicking OK button, you will be presented with  Signature Settings  window. Change the page size and output settings and other settings here. Some options may not available at this moment. All of them are available when you open the ‘ Signature Settings ’ or  Layout Preferences  later.

Then open the  PDF Link Settings  window to Import your PDF file into The Links window. You can use the dropdown menu on the ‘Import PDF..’ button to import included sample PDF files. You may import single or multiple PDF files or insert empty pages and re-arrange as per your requirement.

Create a new layout manually?

Select New > Manual Layout from  File Menu  or  Templates Window .
Then the Manual Layout Wizard window will open. Change the page size and output settings and other settings here. Some options may not available at this moment. All of them are available when you open the ‘ Signature Settings ’ or  Layout Preferences  later.

Then open the  PDF Link Settings  window to Import your PDF file into The Links window. You can use the dropdown menu on the ‘Import PDF..’ button to import included sample PDF files. You may import single or multiple PDF files or insert empty pages and re-arrange as per your requirement.

Create a gang run layout with two different page sizes?

Now we are making a layout with two A4 & one A3 sizes on a layout for gang run.

Select New > Auto Layout from  File Menu  or  Templates Window . Chose 4up (2x2), single sided, A4 size, in horizontal orientation on plain cut sheet mode. Then click create button to create a layout automatically.

You will get a layout like image 1. On the  Layout Editor , double click on the top right page to edit its properties. On the  Master Page Properties  window, check the  Hide Master Page  button to hide page from the layout. Change the symbolic page number to ‘1’ and click OK to close. Then double click on the right bottom Page to edit its properties. On the  Master Page Properties  window, Change the PDF Page Rotation: to 0 degree. Then check the transformations checkbox and click the ‘Gang Run Transformations..’ button to open the Gang Run Transformations window. On this transformations window, change the Box Size Horizontal: field to 297mm and Box Size Vertical: field to 420mm (size of A3). Click OK to close. Now the layout will look like image 2.

Then open the  PDF Link Settings  window to Import your PDF file into The Links window. You can use the dropdown menu on the ‘Import PDF..’ button to import included sample PDF files. Position your links as per the symbolic page numbers or change the symbolic page numbers as per the links imported in to the PDF Links Settings window. In this example, Use link number 1 & 3 for A4 size and link number 2 for A3 size. Now the layout will look like image 3.

  You are Done.

Now you can output the layout using the  Create PDF Output  button into a PDF. Then you can use the resulted PDF output file to print using a PDF viewer like  Acrobat Reader  or  Preview  ( Mac) etc. to a digital printer or drop directly into hot folders of your image setter or CTP work-flow. The resulted file is fully compatible for Digital Printers, Image Setters and CTP machines.

You can also use the ‘ Hide Master Page On ’ menu and  Unhide Master Page On  menu to hide or unhide master pages.
