Layout Preferences Window

Optimizer ▸

PDF Optimizer Preset: Apply the selected PDF Optimizer to the layout. You may select the built-in optimizers or create your own optimizers. View Optimizers section for more details

Font Replacing Mode: Allows to replace missing fonts in the output PDF file with a font which is available in your system. You need to enable font replacement option in the selected PDF optimizer to enable this menu.

Show Error Message : Shows an error message with a missing font name. No further actions for missing fonts.

Replace All With A Font : Replaces all missing font instances with the selected font.

Replace with Selected Fonts.. : Allows to customize missing fonts with respective fonts selected from available fonts.

Setup.. Allows to customize missing fonts. Use the ‘ Missing Fonts Setup ’ section for more details

Replace With:: Sets the default font to replace missing fonts when the font replacement mode is single font.

PDF Optimizer Preset: Sets the default.

PDF Color Mode : This function sets the PDF version info to the selected mode for RIP compatibility. This will not convert the colors of the imported PDF files.

Setup.. : This option shows the color profile option for standard layouts without any optimizer.

Working CMYK: : Sets the default color profiles for color objects in CMYK mode but not associated with any embedded icc profile.

Working RGB: : Sets the default color profiles for color objects in RGB mode but not associated with any embedded icc profile.

Working Gray: : Sets the default color profiles for color objects in Grayscale mode but not associated with any embedded icc profile.

Destination Color Space : Uses your printing machine color profile to give you a color accurate on-screen preview of the signature how it will look once printed.

Include Output Intent In The PDF : Embed Intent profile into the output PDF file according to the color mode. This profile will use the output device for accurate color re-production.

Note: All of these settings will be overridden by a PDF Optimizer, if present.

Convert To Color Mode : Allows to convert output PDF to selected color mode. Colors will be converted using the selected color profile for the destination color space. This option only works when the layout does not have an optimizer and a matching profile found on the destination color space.

PDF Version : Sets the PDF version of the output PDF file for RIP compatibility.

Units ▸

Measurement Unit : Sets the measurement unit for Imposition Studio.

Page Move Nudge : Sets the amount to move while nudging the pages using the arrow keys. Use control key (command key for macOS) + arrow key combination to nudge the selected page.

Rule Coordinates : Sets the coordinates for the ruler info on the Signature Viewer window.

Marks / OMR ▸

Crop Marks : Enable and customize page crop marks.

Offset : Shift from the original mark position.

Line Thickness : Thickness of the line.

Line Length : Length of the line.

Folding Marks : Enable and customize folding marks.

Offset : Shift from the original mark position.

Line Thickness : Thickness of the line.

Line Length : Length of the line.

Paper Centre Marks : Enable or disable paper center marks.

Mark Style : Select available register mark styles.

Available options are Standard, Standard Bold, Standard Bullseye, Large, Large Bold and Large Bullseye, Round and User selected marks using a PDF file.

Custom Marks : You may use your own register marks. Load a PDF file containing the mark using the PDF resources window. It will appear in this list.

Centre Marks Only : Disable all corner register marks and print only all center marks.

Lay Marks : Enable or disable and customize lay marks.

Lay Position : Printing position of the lay marks on the printing sheet.

Available options are Left Edge, Right Edge and Both Edges.

Style : Select lay mark styles. Available options are Default, Small, Solid Bar, Small Cross and Small Line and user selected marks using a PDF file. Make 2 page PDF file for left and right lay marks when choosing custom marks.

Custom Marks : You may use your own lay marks. Load a PDF file containing the mark using the PDF resources window. It will appear in this list. Add a second page in the PDF for right side variation.

Simple Guide On Opposite : This option will add a line directly opposite to the lay marks to monitor lay mis-alignment.

Collating Marks : Enable or disable and customize collating mark position and size

Small : Set collating marks as small in length.

Width : Set collating mark width.

Section Offset : Number of forms should be inserted before this forms to complete a book. You only need this option when your current forms are not containing the starting pages of the Book.

Black Only Marks : Output all printing marks in grayscale mode.

Setup : Allow to select individual marks like crop register etc for gray mode.

Barcode / OMR : Enable or disable barcode and OMR marks.

Mode : 3 modes are available for barcode & OMR marks.

• Barcode : Enable barcode only.

• OMR Mark : Enable OMR marks only.

• Barcode + OMR : Enable barcode and OMR marks.

Setup : Clicking the button will open the ‘Barcode & OMR Setup’ window. Check that section for more details about barcodes & OMR mark settings.

Color Bar ▸

Color Control Bar : Enable or disable and customize color control on the top edge of the printing paper.

Solid Swatches Only : Make small color bar with 100% swatches only.

Small Control Bar : Create small color control bar. This option is applicable only to the default color control bar. Color Bar Style:Select the style of the control bar including custom color bars.

Vertical Control Bar : Make small color bar vertically on the top of the left side.

Color Bar Style : Allow you to use custom color bar PDF files as color bar instead of the default color bar.

Setup.. : Allow you to add your own special color bar PDF files to ‘Color Bar Style’ pop-up menu. This item will be available for all documents thereafter.

Swatches : Select the way of the default control bar handling spot colors. This option will be not available when you are using your own color bar instead the default one. Preview of the spot color swatches only available in Output PDF Preview.

Default : Lists CMYK color swatches on the color bar. (same as CMYK Only mode)

CMYK Only : Lists only CMYK color swatches on the color bar.

Spot Only : Lists only special color swatches on the color bar.

Force CMYK + Spot : Lists all spot color swatches + CMYK on the color bar.

Offset : Moves color bar position towards paper edge or center from its default position.

Align & Fit : Control the Size and fill method of the custom color bars. 6 placing options are available.

• Default : Places the color bar in default position, centered.

• Left : Places the color bar aligned left.

• Center : Places the color bar aligned center.

• Right : Places the color bar aligned right.

• Repeat To Fill : Places the color bar left and repeat till the right edge.

• Stretch Width to Fit : Places the color bar stretched or reduced from left to right.Color bar height will be the same as the original file.

• Stretch Width-Height to Fit : Places the color bar stretched from left to right.Color bar height also change to the value given in the ‘Height’ field.

Number of Bars : Allow you to add multiple color bars on the signature.

Single : Use the default color bar on the top.

Multiple : Use multiple color bars in different locations.

Setup.. : Click this button to open the ‘ Multi Color Bar Options ’ window to edit the color bar locations.

Height : Resize color bar height in percentages.

Gray Calibration Strip : Enable or disable the gray calibration control strip. This strip will print on all separations of the layout as a 10% incremented swatches from 0 to 100.

Black Only Color Control Bar : Output all color control marks in Grayscale mode.

View PDF Page Overlay and Backdrop section for more info on overlay and backdrop.

Slug Line ▸

Slug Line : Enable signature details printed on the selected slug area.

Position : Select the position for slug line text. 3 options are available.

• Left of the Signature : Print slug line on left side of the signature

• Above the Signature : Print slug line on top side of the signature

• Below the Signature : Print slug line on bottom side of the signature

Slug Text : You may add custom text on the slug line.

Font : Select the font face of the slug line text.

Font Size : Select the font size of the slug line text.

Use Output Name as File Info : Output PDF file name will be used as file info in the slug line text. Otherwise the layout file name will use as file info.

Extra Slug line.. : Add one more slug line on selected positions.. (Read Extra slug lines section below for more details)

Extra Separation Info.. : Setup extra separation names on output PDF for easy visibility on some kind of printing plates.. (Read Extra Separation section below for more details)

Cutter / Slitter Info.. : Setup cutter / slitter info on output PDF. (Read Cutter / Slitter section below for more details)

Make Slug Line In Gray : Output all slug line text in grayscale mode.

Offset : Allows to move slug line text position towards the paper edge.

Colors : Allows to select mode for color name text on the slug line.

Auto : Lists only CMYK color names on slug line. (same as CMYK Only mode)

CMYK Only : Lists only CMYK color names on slug line.

Spot Only : Lists only special/spot color names on slug line.

Force CMYK + Spot : Lists all special/spot color names + CMYK on slug line.

No Date & Time : Removes date & time information from the slug line text.

No Finished Size Info : Removes job size information from the slug line text.

Remove Overlapping Marks : Removes register marks which overlapping with slug line on output PDF.

Do not Show Separation Info : Removes separation color names from the slug line text.

Do not Show Company Name : Removes registered company name from the slug line text.

Do not Show Application Info : Removes application name from the slug line text.

Offset : Offset value for company name and application info on the slug area.

Enable Ink Limit on Slug Area : Enable or disable Ink limit for all marks and texts showing on the slug line zone. If Enabled, Total ink limit for slug line object will be below 300%.

Company Name / Logo / Control Wedge : Allow you to use personalized PDF files with company name / logo or a control wedge on the right slug area.

PDF File : A PDF file with your company name, logo or a control wedge on the bottom right corner.

Offset : Offset value from the default position for company name PDF on the slug area..

Extra Slug line : Add one more slug line on selected positions..

Slug Line Text : Select the font size of the slug line text.

Add Page Numbers : Page numbers used in the signature will be added into current slug line text.

Starting Page Numbers : In a multi layout job, use the starting page number for this layout.

Position : Select the position for slug line text. 3 options are available.

• Left of the Signature : Print slug line on left side of the signature

• Above the Signature : Print slug line on top side of the signature

• Below the Signature : Print slug line on bottom side of the signature

Offset : Allows to move slug line text position towards the paper edge.

Font : Select the font face of the slug line text.

Size : Select the font size of the slug line text.

Extra Separation Info.. : Setup extra separation names on output PDF for easy visibility on some kind of printing plates.

Position : Select the position for slug line text. 3 options are available.

• Left of the Paper : Print separation names on left of the paper on the plate.

• Above the Paper : Print separation names on above the paper on the plate.

• Below the Paper : Print separation names on below the paper on the plate.

Offset : Allows to move separation names text position towards the plate edge.

Font : Select the font face of the separation names text.

Size : Select the font size of the separation names text.

Cutter / Slitter Info.. : Setup cutter / slitter info on output PDF

Custom Values : Allows to edit auto values.

Gutter Cut : Gutter cut value.

Gutter Slit : Gutter slit value.

Lead Trim : Paper lead side trim value.

Side Trim : Paper left/right side trim value.

Add Paper Size : Include paper size on info.

Position : Select the position for gutter/slitter info text. 3 options are available.

• Included in the Slug Line : Add gutter/slitter info text into the current slug line.

• Bottom Left of the Signature : Print gutter/slitter info text on bottom left of the signature.

• Bottom Right of the Signature : Print gutter/slitter info text on bottom right of the signature.

• Left of the Signature : Print gutter/slitter info text on left of the signature.

Offset : Allows to move gutter/slitter info text position towards the plate edge.

Font Size : Select the font size of the gutter/slitter info text.

Swap Values : Change side trim from left to right.

Options ▸

Enable Trim Box & Bleed Box on Output : Enable Trim & Bleed bounding boxes on the output PDF file.

Do Not Auto Synchronize Front and Back Layout: Disables applying transformations automatically on the opposite signature as per current signature.

Add Media Size to Output PDF Name : Adds media size information on the output PDF file name.

Do Not Search For Missing Linked PDF Files. : Disable searching for the missing linked PDF files in the layout root folders.

White Ground On PDF Page Box : Uses a white background on all PDF page boxes. All blending modes behave differently on empty space and white area. So this option may cause some transparency related errors if the designer unknowingly applied some transparency filters on the page objects.

Omit From Preflight Check : Preflight check will not report 'White Ground On PDF Page Box’ option as an error if this option is enabled.

Localization Options :

Do Not Localize Template Names : Set this option to disable localized files names in templates window.

Do Not Localize Grading Profile Names : Use this option to disable localization for grading profile names.

Add Code Names To Grading Profile Names : Use this option to show the grading profile short code along with the name.

General ▸

Preferences Presets : Save or load preferences presets.

• Save Preferences as Preset.. : You may save the whole settings for using with other layout later.

• Load Preferences from Preset : Load the settings from previously saved settings that are listed on the bottom of the presets menu. You may also use the Preferences Preset Action Menu on the Action Menu Buttons on the Layout Editor to achieve the same.

Output File Naming Scheme : Control the naming scheme for the output PDF file. 2 options are available.

• Layout Document Name : Name output file with the layout file name.

• First PDF Link File Name : Name output file with the name of the first PDF link file in the link setup.

Encrypt with Password : Allows to encrypt this output PDF file with a password. You may restrict the user action like open print edit etc.

Setup : Encryption password setup.

Open Only : Use this password to open and view output PDF file when selected this option as encryption mode.

Open and Print : Use this password to open and print output PDF file when selected this option as encryption mode.

Open, Print and Modify : Use this password to open, print and modify output PDF file when selected this option as encryption mode.

Master Password : Use this password to remove any restrictions applied in the output PDF file. You may use this password to use with the Decrypt PDF files utility to remove restrictions permanently.

Keep Original PDF File : This option will keep the original non-encrypted PDF file along with the encrypted PDF.

QuickLayout Page Size : Set defaults for the automatic page size options when using QuickLayout mode.

Keep Original Size : Use the same page crop size from the layout.

Get From First PDF Link Page : Take the first linked PDF page size as page crop size.

Disable Preview Cache : Preview cache is required for speeding up signature preview. You may disable this option if you had experienced low memory errors.

Show Notes on Open : Shows the notes window while opening the layout.

Add Layout Info to Output File : Layout informations will be include In output PDF as non printable comments.

Enable Trim Box & Bleed Box on Output : Enable Trim & Bleed bounding boxes on the output PDF file.

Keep Minimized : Show layout information notes as an icon on first page.

Rename Locked Output PDF Files : You can not delete or rename a PDF file which is opened in Adobe Acrobat PDF viewers. So Imposition Studio will add an incremental extra character on save. You may use a different PDF viewer application to solve the file locking issue.

Ignore File Errors From Remote Disks: Some types of network mounted disks including NAS may shows cause file missing errors in some cases. Use this option to ignore such errors when accessing files from a network drive.

Disable Link Preview Auto Update : Set this option to disable auto updating link previews when you change the color profiles. Useful for when your layout contains very large link files or so many links.

Save Settings as Default : Apply all settings as application default. So the current document and every new document you create thereafter will use all settings on this preferences window.

You may get the same results when you open (Default) Layout Preferences while no job is opened. The settings will be saved as global defaults for all new documents.
